Wednesday was one of the warmest days of the summer so far. A and I headed west to Hartford, CT to visit a good friend of mine, B, who is completing her doctorate there. Our first stop was the Gouveia Vineyards.
They are truly vineyards with a view! The tasting room is decorated with warm hues and lined with large windows that overlook the 140 sun-kissed acres. For $12, you can sample five wines - their Pinot Grigio, Whirlwind Rose', Merlot, Stone House Red, and one wine of your choice - and keep the glass as a souvenir. A went for a red and B the rose', and we sat outside and basked in the sunshine. Despite the high temperature, we felt comfortable as the elevation brought a steady breeze. I could have sat and stared out at the scenery forever.
I've been on the hunt for the perfect pair of denim shorts and I finally found them via Revolve. There's also a pair by One Teaspoon that I'm eyeing. I don't wear denim often as I'm picky about details (like how I tend to prefer non-ripped jeans but have to have rips in my shorts - go figure) and I struggle to find denim that fits me well, so when I found and fell in love with this pair, I decided to invest. This is my first pair of high-end denim and I definitely notice a difference in the quality and feel of the fabric.
We left the vineyards with a bottle of wine, picked up a pizza pie, and headed to Wadsworth Mansion, where we met B's boyfriend, for a free, live jazz concert. We set up picnic blankets in the middle of the mansion grounds, and chatted as we ate and enjoyed the music. It was a perfect New England summer night with lovers + friends. ;-)
