Picture Day Perfect
Today marks the first day of my fifth year as a teacher. (For those of you who don't know, I teach in my spare time. ;-) More on that here!) Each year seems to go by more quickly than the last! This year will be different from the four others in that I am looping with my students -- and will continue to loop with them until they graduate high school -- and I'm excited for the comforts and challenges that will bring.
J.Crew dress, necklace (love this pearl option, on sale!) | Zara loafers
I loved the cut and color of this J.Crew sheath dress, reminiscent of Jackie O., when I picked it up last spring (I'm having an emerald jewel-tone moment). This crimson and navy sheath dress is a pretty option for fall. I love the look of blouses under sheath and shift dresses and this white silk one with pretty button and sleeve details would pair well with both. I'm also coveting this pretty top as a workwear piece.
I am over the moon with how these photos turned out! Everything fell into place as we were shooting this outfit -- I spotted this brick house on our drive to FedEx (to print our tickets for the Block Island ferry) where the late afternoon light was bright but soft and shining at just the right angle. The few passersby smiled at me as I posed sheepishly and as A captured these perfect shots. (For those of you whose significant others are also behind the camera, do you have moments where you become a monster when shooting? For me, 'monster' is an understatement! A is so good about it, I'm lucky he hasn't quit the gig!)
This afternoon (and into the evening), I'm off to my second-to-last course of my Master's program. Long day (and year) ahead of us, folks. Best of luck to my fellow educators and students, and to anyone headed back to work after a vacation! x
