Of all the skincare products that I've tried, tested, and that have stayed true to my routine, two stand out as making a significant difference in the condition of my skin--Pai's Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil and Aveda's Botanical Kinetics Exfoliant. These are probably my third or fourth bottles of each, so when I restocked on the Aveda and shared it on my Instagram stories, I knew I had to dedicate a post.
I read somewhere sometime ago that Miranda Kerr extolled the benefits of rosehip oil, which include regenerating skin cells through essential fatty acids, hydrating dry or sun-damaged skin and preventing premature aging, and improving the skin's tone and texture. If it's good enough for Miranda Kerr... My main skin concern has been the scars left behind from my formerly severely acne-prone skin, which I felt nothing would clear up. I researched rosehip oils and discovered Pai's, a reasonably priced oil by an organic and ethical brand that focuses on sensitive skin. And it was life changing. Within a week or two of nightly use, my acne scars had begun to fade and my skin's texture improve. Now, three or four bottles later, I keep it in my rotation for its hydrating, plumping, and glow-inducing properties.
The concept that a toner could exfoliate my skin was groundbreaking, and introduced to me by skincare goddess Caroline Hirons. For those of you who, like me, are skeeved by the thought and sensation of physical exfoliants, the Aveda Botanical Kinetics Exfoliant is a must. It's gentle enough to use nightly after cleansing and still effective when used only a couple times per week. Pixi's Glow Tonic is another option, also made popular by Caroline, and now available at Target. Though I used up a bottle of the Pixi, I much prefer the Aveda, which I find to be more effective and feel more comfortable, and even hydrating, on the skin. Added bonus: it smells nicer, too.
A hyperbolic post, yes, and no, not a sponsored one, but these two products used in conjunction have made such a difference in my skin that I have to sing their praises.
Another noteworthy product is Josie Maran's Argan Infinity Cream Intensive Creamy Oil (featured here). A long name for a product that does something simple: heals. I've used this on my lips, cuticles, cracked skin, cuts, scrapes, and even on my face. Overnight, the creamy oil heals the area. And a little goes a long way; A uses it more frequently than I do and we've still hardly made a dent. Well worth the purchase.
