Spring Break New England
You could hear teachers across the state breathe a sigh of relief at around 3pm last Friday. This time last year, A and I spent part of our week off in a cozy treehouse in New Hampshire. We had planned to go hiking, but the mountain trails were still closed due to the winter weather. Even as we sat in our treehouse hot tub, a light snow fell. Still, it was one of my favorite trips.
This spring break, we decided to have a staycation as we've traveled quite a bit this year. Yesterday was the warmest day of the year so far, and A and I spent it out and about in our little city of Providence.
A drove us to a small patch of land by the water that he had discovered a few days ago, where I snapped the photos of the city skyline. It's a great view all around as there's a bridge facing away from the city. There were plenty of passersby also enjoying the New England spring weather.
We went back to The Capital Grille for lunch. The building is located along the river downtown where WaterFire is held in the summer. Behind it, you can see the Rhode Island State House (where I've been on many a field trip). It really is a beautiful building.
This beautiful rose gold, crystal tennis bracelet was a gift I bought for my mother several years ago. She doesn't do well with gifts, so I ended up keeping it for myself. For those of you with mothers who would appreciate it, it's the perfect Mother's Day gift! It's relatively inexpensive for a tennis bracelet and is also available in silver and gold.
Unfortunately, The Capital Grille replaced their potato and leek soup (my favorite part of my meal last time) with their spring offerings, but I had a delicious lobster bisque with cream sherry to start. A ordered a salad and the lobster roll with chips, and I had a meat cheat and ordered the steak frites with chimichurri. We washed those down with moscato and Belvedere martinis.
Time off with no commitments is so precious that I'm anxious about it already being Tuesday afternoon! So far, we've also hosted friends for dinner (more on that to come), I got A into New Girl, did a bit of online shopping last night, and have a girls' night planned for Thursday. A is currently making our favorite bean, pico de gallo, and guacamole tacos, so I'm off to work on those. :)
What have you been up to lately?
