The Dad Sweater

The dad sweater, a variation of the mom jean.

Disclaimer: my dad inspired this post, twenty five years or so ago. Thanks, dad.

There’s a photo of my dad and me, both a quarter of a century younger (yeesh), at a hibachi restaurant in one of my childhood albums. He was wearing black, thick-rimmed glasses and a sweater that looked, well, almost identical to this one. In fact, I texted a photo to my parents and my dad wondered how I had his sweater until my mom reminded him that he had given his away fifteen years ago. (Side note: how do moms remember these things?) It was my favorite sweater of his, and while I wished he had kept it to give to me, I was elated to spot this one on an Instagram account and pick it up from my favorite Zara location shortly thereafter.

Zara sweater | Uniqlo turtleneck | GRLFRND jeans

I wore it to brunch on Sunday and found the perfect entrance to stand in front of. A pink door in Seoul, who’d have thought!
