While I love to travel, my favorite part is getting back home and sleeping in my own bed. We arrived home late last night from a weekend at my best friend's and my old stomping grounds, and while I enjoyed some much-needed best friend time, I finally feel like I can breathe again. We had one short day between our trip to the Midwest and weekend in New Jersey to essentially unpack, do a few loads of laundry, then repack and set off.
After 48 hours in the Twin Cities, A and I headed to Chicago where we stayed in the sweetest little Airbnb. We had a sushi dinner take-out from Lawrence Fish Market, which doesn't look like much but is sensational, and then hopped on a bus to Montrose Harbor to watch the sunset -- post to come! The next day, we woke early to have brunch at Summer House in the Lincoln Park area, then took the 60-second elevator up to the Skydeck of Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower).
Though we prefer the views from John Hancock, looking down and out through the glass boxes that protrude from Willis Tower is an experience.
We hydrated at my favorite little coffee shop, tucked away in a pseudo alley.
I felt silly snapping a photo of the cats lining the shelves of ShopHouse, adjacent to the coffee shop, but then three others stopped to snap a photo as well.
We attempted the Art Institute but arrived too late, so instead ended the day with cupcakes and Korean food.
This white poplin dress (first mentioned here) was perfect for exploring the city in the heat. I love every detail -- the tie front, cutout, cinched waist, front slit -- and want to wear it every chance I get!
Happy August! What do you have planned for the rest of the summer? x
