I'm not sure what the rule is exactly for wearing white, but with the summer weather and Memorial Day Weekend coming up, this white shirtdress made its way into my wardrobe.
I linked it when I featured this peach dress in this post in the tulip gardens, and couldn't stop thinking about it, so I picked it up. I love a good shirtdress (I'll feature my favorite silk, tangerine one at some point) and this is a good one - the material is a soft, lightweight cotton blend and is machine washable, the white ('ivory') is opaque enough over light colored underwear, and the A-line fit with the tie belt make it flattering for any figure. Best of all, it has pockets!
My only gripe with shirtdresses and button-down shirts is that the material between the buttons along the bust pops open, so I usually have to wear a cami underneath. With this dress, however, because it cinches tightly at the waist, there's more give at the bust and the material lays flat. I took a size 0 and the waist fits exactly - if you are in between sizes, I would definitely recommend sizing up.
Kitten heels are a bit ridiculous as a concept, but allow me to comfortably be half an inch taller, and as a shorty, I appreciate that. I almost always wear pointed toe shoes - I tend to dress conservatively and pointed toes add a touch of sexiness - and I particularly love these in white.
A knelt on the ground to shoot some of these, and a woman who was coming up the street behind him sweetly asked if it was a proposal. (Then sheepishly apologized when she realized it wasn't!) We snapped these photos yesterday on Wickenden Street in Providence, which houses cute little shops, coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants, the cutest of which was our destination - The Duck and Bunny. More on that soon!
